Men's & Women's Tennis Head Coach
In his first year, Bizot's teams were also successful. The men's team was undefeated, winning the ASC East, while the women finished in second place. Twelve Patriots earned ASC All-Conference honors, with Jordan Repsher and Kristin Thomas sweeping the division's Newcomer of the Year awards. Bizot won the East Division's men's co-coach of the year award in his first season at UT Tyler. Under Bizot in 2006, the Patriots won ASC East Division championships for both the men and women, and both teams advanced to the conference championships. UT Tyler placed eleven players on All-ASC tennis teams last year and three different players earned ASC player of the week honors. The future is bright for the Patriots, as Beth Launius won both the Freshman Player of the Year and overall Player of the year awards, and Bryan Jolly won Newcomer of the Year for the East Division. Bizot was named ASC East Division Women's Coach of the Year for his work in 2006. His teams excelled on the court and also in the classroom, with his women's team posting a 3.42 GPA in the Fall 2006 semester, and his men bringing in a 3.21 GPA. In 2007, the men captured their fourth straight ASC East title, while the women picked up their second. The Patriots placed 11 players on All-ASC East teams. In addition, Beth Launius earned her second straight East Division Player of the Year honor, while Bizot received his second consecutive East Division Women's Coach of the Year award. In 2008, the Patriots once again went 10-0 against ASC East opponents, earning two more ASC East titles. Both teams also earned their first ever berths into the ASC Team Tournament, which was played on the Patriots' home court. The Patriots would take full advantage of playing on their home court, as each team dethroned perennial power Hardin-Simmons in the finals en route to the first-ever conference title for both teams. With the conference championship wins, both teams earned spots in the NCAA National Division III Team Tournament. Each team won a match in the tournament, with the women advancing to the regional semi-finals and men advancing to the regional championship match. For their performances in the regionals, Patriots' Dustin Phillips and David Ashlock earned invitations to the NCAA Division III National Individual Tournament. The Patriots ended 2008 with 32 post-season awards. Rachel Anders was named ASC East Newcomer of the Year and Dustin Phillips received the same award on the men's side. Bizot was named ASC East Coach of the Year for the men and shared the women's honor with his college coach, David Boteler of Mississippi College. Freshman Robert Sajovich and Bizot were also named West Region Rookie and Coach of the Year, respectively, by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Prior to coming to UT Tyler, Bizot was the head tennis coach for NAIA Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Florida. His men's and women's teams were both ranked in the top twenty and qualified for the national championships. In 2004, Bizot was named the NCCAA National Women's Coach of the Year, and his women's team won the National Christian College Athletic Association National Championship. Bizot is responsible for coordinating all practices, matches, scheduling, recruiting and budgeting for the University's tennis program. In addition, he manages the daily operations of UT Tyler's Summers Tennis Center. Bizot holds a Masters of Social Science in History and also a Bachelors of Science in Administration of Justice from Mississippi College. While attending college, he served as varsity tennis team captain all four years. Chris and his wife Rachel have one child, daughter Camden Renee, born during the 2006 ASC Championships...which luckily were hosted by UT Tyler. Chris Bizot: Year-by-Year
