Tennis Sweeps ASC Honors Once Again

RICHARDSON, Texas – Junior Dustin Phillips (Houston, Texas) and sophomore Brittany Ude (Corpus Christi, Texas) were named East Division Male and Female Tennis Player of the Week, respectively, by the American Southwest Conference on Tuesday afternoon. This is the second time this season that UT Tyler has swept the weekly honors.

Dustin Phillips was 2-0 in both singles and doubles play on the week. Phillips served as the No. 1 for both singles and doubles and helped guided the Patriots to a pair of ASC wins over LeTourneau and Ozarks. Phillips is now 8-2 on the year in singles and is 9-1 in doubles with partner David Ashlock.

Brittany Ude went 3-0 in singles play this week in three different positions, including a victory as the top flight against Concordia (Tex.). Ude also won her lone doubles match this week. Ude produced a dominating performance on the week by shutting out her opponent in six of seven sets. Ude is 9-1 on the year in singles competition and 2-1 in doubles.

Phillips, Ude and their teammates will be at the Summers Tennis Center for the final time this regular season on Saturday when they play host to nationally ranked Trinity (Tex.), at 9 a.m. Trinity’s men are currently ranked 3rd, while the women are ranked 18th.
