Hagler Receives Second ASC Honor

RICHARDSON, Texas – Freshman Michelle Hagler (Austin, Texas) was named East Division Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for the second time this season by the American Southwest Conference on Wednesday afternoon.

Hagler was 2-0 in singles play on the week and 0-1 in doubles action. Hagler picked up the lone point for the Patriots in their 8-1 loss to No. 18 Trinity (Tex.) on Saturday. On Tuesday, Hagler took out her opponent from Louisiana College in perfect 6-0, 6-0 fashion. Tuesday’s win also gave UT Tyler a least a share of the East Division regular season title for the third straight year and the right to host the 2008 Men’s & Women’s ASC Tennis Championship on April 18-20.

This is not only Hagler’s second Player of the Week honor of the year, but the third consecutive Player of the Week honor for UT Tyler and fourth of the season.

Hagler and both UT Tyler tennis teams will play their regular season finale on Friday at UT Dallas. The match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
