Tennis Teams Finish 2008 Ranked in Top 25

SKILLMAN, N.J. – Coming off the most successful season in school history, The University of Texas at Tyler men’s and women’s tennis teams both finished 2008 ranked in the Top 25 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

The men finished the year at No. 21 and ranked sixth in the West region, while the women ended their season at No. 25 and ranked fifth in the West.

During the 2008 season, both teams won their first American Southwest Conference titles and received bids to the NCAA National Team Tournament. The men and women each won a match during the tournament, with the women going to the second round and the men advancing to the third round.

The season came to a close with the Dustin Phillips and David Ashlock qualifying for the NCAA National Singles and Doubles Tournament.
