Women’s Tennis Gets Big Win in Birmingham
March 7, 2008

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The University of Texas at Tyler women’s tennis team picked up a tough 5-4 road win on Friday afternoon at Birmingham-Southern.

The Panthers were able to dispatch both of UT Tyler’s top two flights in straight sets, leaving tough work for the rest of the Patriots. However, UT Tyler was able to rise to the occasion by defeating the other four BSC singles players.

Leading 4-2 after singles play, all the Patriots needed was to win one doubles match. It would be reigning ASC East Player of the Week Michelle Hagler and her partner Nicole Barrett who would do the honors for UT Tyler, picking up the 8-1 win and winning the match for the Patriots in the process.

With the win UT Tyler now stands at 8-1 on the year, while Birmingham Southern falls to 5-2.

UT Tyler will now keep heading east en route to Hilton Head, S.C. While in Hilton Head, the Patriots will take on No. 27 Washington-St. Louis on Sunday and Dickinson on Monday.
