Tennis Remains Undefeated in ASC Action

The University of Texas at Tyler men’s and women’s tennis teams shutout Ozarks, 9-0, on Saturday afternoon to remain undefeated in American Southwest Conference play.

Both teams dispatched the Eagles in straight sets in each match and blanked Ozarks in 21 of 30 sets played. Nicole Barrett (Allen, Texas), Brittany Ude (Corpus Christi, Texas), Lauren Giovannini (Dallas, Texas), Beth Launius (LaGrange, Texas), Rachel Anders (Lindale, Texas), Blair Wilson (Groesbeck, Texas), Dustin Phillips (Houston, Texas), David Ashlock (Arlington, Texas), Will McDonald (Houston, Texas), Nick Kreines (Houston, Texas), and Marcus Koenig (Montgomery, Texas) all shutout their opponents in either singles and/or doubles action on the day.

The win advances the men to 13-5 overall and 3-0 in ASC action, while the women improve to 13-2 and 3-0 in conference play.

Both teams will return to Summers Tennis Center for the final time this regular season on April 5, when they host nationally-ranked Trinity (Tex.). The match is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
