UT Tyler Men and Women Down Rhodes in Tennis

The UT Tyler women’s tennis team came from four down to defeat Rhodes, 5-4, in non-conference action Saturday afternoon at the Summer Tennis Center.

After Rachel Anders and Beth Launius dropped the top two singles matches for the Patriots, Michelle Hagler beat Rhodes’ Kelsey Mannsman in the No. 3 singles match, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3. Nicole Barrett, Brittany Ude, and Lauren Giovannini also won their matches for the Patriots.

In doubles play, Barrett and Hagler took the No 2. match for the Patriots.

The No. 22 UT Tyler had no trouble with Rhodes on the men’s side, winning 9-0.

Dustin Phillips downed Jonathan Moreno, 6-1, 6-1, in the No. 1 singles match and Robert Sajovich, Steven Campbell, David Ashlock, Will McDonald, and Nick Kreines all won singles for the patriots.

UT Tyler also swept the men’s doubles matches with Ashlock/Phillips winning 8-3, Campbell/Sajovich winning 8-5, and Jordan Repsher/Kreines winning the No. 3 doubles match, 8-1.

The Patriots host LeTourneau at 9 a.m. Friday.
