Sajovich, Bizot Earn Regional Tennis Honors

SKILLMAN, N.J. – University of Texas at Tyler freshman Robert Sajovich (Austin, Texas) and head men’s tennis coach Chris Bizot received West Regional honors on Friday from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, the sports governing body. Sajovich was named region Rookie of the Year, while Bizot received region Coach of the Year honors.
Sajovich went 9-7 in singles play and 14-3 in doubles play during his first year as a collegiate tennis player. Sajovich scored several victories over nationally ranked opponents and received first team All-Conference and second team All-East Division honors. Sajovich capped the year off by being named the West Region alternate to the NCAA National Singles Tournament.
Chris Bizot led UT Tyler to its fifth consecutive American Southwest Conference East Division title and first-ever conference championship. The Patriots advanced to the NCAA National Tournament where they defeated Wisconsin-Whitewater, before falling to No. 6 Gustavus Adolphus in the regional final. Under Bizot’s guidance, UT Tyler also received its first ever National Ranking, topping out at No. 25.
