Men’s Tennis Pair Finishes 8th in Mobile

MOBILE, Ala. – Seniors Brad Fenter (Vernon, Texas) and Nick Kreines (Houston, Texas) finished the 2009 Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Small College Championships in eighth place in the Division III doubles bracket on Friday at the Copeland-Cox Tennis Center in Mobile.

In their quarterfinal match on Thursday, the Patriot duo fell in straight sets to Taylor Borda and Josh Rifkin of Ithaca, 6-3, 6-4.

On Friday, the Patriots lost a heartbreaker to Isaac Stein and Max Woods of Washington-St. Louis in the semifinals of the consolation bracket, 3-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-8).

Later in the day, Fenter and Kreines returned to the court for their final match of the tournament where they fell to Utsab Rijal and Scott Sundstrom in three sets, 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-5).

For qualifying for the tournament both UT Tyler seniors will be named as All-Americans by the ITA following the conclusion of the spring season.
