After a tough stretch of road games, The University of Texas at Tyler volleyball team returned to the Herrington Patriot Center Saturday and picked up an important 3-0 American Southwest Conference win over Mississippi College. “We are struggling on the road this year but we are doing well at home,” said UT Tyler head coach Rachel Short. “We played well against Austin College and ETBU but couldn’t pull out wins in either game, so hopefully this win will get us back on track as we prepare for the crossover tournament.” The Patriots combined for 42 kills as Kala Laningham led the way with 11 kills followed by Tami Trail with seven. Kelly Roberts had 35 assists for UT Tyler and also led the team in digs with 19. Trail had seven blocks while Amanda Gadison added five. Jessica Lightfoot had three service aces. UT Tyler plays at LeTourneau Monday before traveling to Austin for the year’s first ASC crossover tournament Friday and Saturday. |
