Volleyball Drops Two to Open ASC Play

CLINTON, Miss. - The UT Tyler volleyball team suffered two tough road losses this weekend to open American Southwest Conference play.
East Texas Baptist handed the Patriots a 3-0 loss on Friday night, before UT Tyler made the long trip to Mississippi College where the Lady Choctaws surprised the Patriots, dishing out a 3-2 win over UT Tyler on Saturday.
UT Tyler will look for its first conference win Tuesday when the Patriots host UT Dallas at 7 p.m. at the Herrington Patriot Center. The Patriots sit at 1-5 overall and 0-2 in ASC play.
On Friday, UT Tyler managed just 24 kills, led by five from Shedryl Tyler, while three ETBU players racked up double-digit kills in route to a 30-24, 30-14, and 30-20 win for the Lady Tigers. ETBU is 7-5 on the season and a perfect 3-0 in the ASC.
Defensively, Lindsey Schofield had 16 digs for the Patriots.
UT Tyler rebounded early against Mississippi College, winning the first two games before MC rallied to win the final three and take the match.
MC won 26-30, 26-30, 30-26, 30-21, 15-13.
