UT Dallas Hands Patriots Loss in Home Opener

Almost 400 fans welcomed the UT Tyler volleyball team to the Herrington Patriot Center for their home opener Tuesday night, but the UT Dallas Lady Comets weren't as kind, handing the Patriots a 3-1 loss in American Southwest Conference action.

UT Tyler falls to 1-6 on the season and 0-3 in the ASC. UT Dallas is now 8-2 and 2-0 in conference play.

After dropping the first game to the Lady Comets, 30-15, UT Tyler rebounded with an exciting 30-25 win in the second game on the heels of four kills from Rebecca Taylor.

UT Dallas regrouped and took games three and four, 30-21 and 30-15, respectively.

Lindsey Roberts and Taylor led the Patriots with seven kills each.

Shedryl Tyler had 27 digs to anchor the UT Tyler defense and Lindsey Schofield had 23 assists.

UT Tyler returns to the court Friday when they travel to Conway, Ark. for the Hendrix Tournament.
