Volleyball Falls To Howard Payne

SEGUIN, Texas - The University of Texas at Tyler volleyball team fell to Howard Payne in straight sets on Friday at the first American Southwest Conference crossover of the season in Texas Lutheran on Friday evening.
The Patriots struggled offensively over the course of the match, hitting a negative .029 over the three sets. UT Tyler had a season low 21 kills in the match.
Freshman Danika Waldrep (Arlington, Texas) led the team with six kills. On the defensive end, Waldrep and senior Megan McCarty (Kaufman, Texas) combined for 23 of the Patriots’ 39 digs in the match.
The loss drops UT Tyler to 7-7 overall and 1-3 in the ASC, while Howard Payne improves to 10-7 on the year and 3-5 in league play.
The Patriots will return to action tomorrow when they wrap-up play in the crossover. UT Tyler will take on Concordia at noon, followed by host Texas Lutheran at 5 p.m.
