Dallas Gets Better of Volleyball Again
October 7, 2008

The University of Texas at Tyler volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to regional rival Dallas on Tuesday night in Irving. This marks the second time this season that the Crusaders (11-5) have defeated the Patriots (8-9).

UT Tyler dropped the first two sets of the match, but kept it close at 25-21 in each set. However, the Patriots were able to do something in this match that they were not able to do in the first match and that is take a set from Dallas.

UT Tyler took set three by a score of 25-18. But in the fourth set, the Patriots would come up just short, 25-22, and drop their second match in a row.

Freshman Danika Waldrep (Spring, Texas) led the Patriots offensively with 15 kills and five service aces. Sophomore Aerial Longino (Alvarado, Texas) had nine kills in the match and added four solo blocks and one block assist.

On the defensive end, it was senior Megan McCarty (Kaufman, Texas) one again leading the way. McCarty had 10 digs and four aces of her own.

The Patriots will return to action on Thursday when they travel to Clinton, Miss., to take on Mississippi College in American Southwest Conference action. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
