Mississippi Rallies to Beat Patriot Volleyball

CLINTON, Miss. - Mississippi College (12-9, 5-7 ASC) rallied from two sets down to beat The University of Texas at Tyler volleyball team (8-10, 2-5 ASC), 3-2, on Thursday night in Clinton.
The Patriots took the first two sets by narrow margins, 25-23 and 25-22. However the Choctaws would rally and take the next two sets, 25-14 and 25-19, to force a decisive fifth set.
In the fifth set, the Choctaws jumped out to an early lead that the Patriots would never recover from. UT Tyler fell in the final stanza, 15-10.
Freshman Amanda Hanson (Spring, Texas) led the offensive attack for UT Tyler with 11 kills. Fellow freshman Liz Bartelson (Burlington, Wis.) followed with nine of her own.
Senior Megan McCarty (Kaufman, Texas) led on the defensive end with 24 digs, while freshman Danika Waldrep (Arlington, Texas) chipped in with 11 digs of her own.
The Patriots will return to action on Friday when they travel to Marshall, Texas to take on ASC East Rival East Texas Baptist at 6 p.m.
