Volleyball Comes Up Big Against LeTourneau

LONGVIEW, Texas - The University of Texas at Tyler volleyball team ended a four match skid by sweeping LeTourneau, 3-0, on Tuesday night in Longview.
The Patriots improved to 9-11 overall and 3-6 in American Southwest Conference play to remain in the hunt for one of three East Division playoff spots,
Freshman Amanda Hanson (Spring, Texas) had a big night, leading the way with nine kills and five block assists. Fellow freshman Danika Waldrep (Arlington, Texas) also had nine kills in the match and added five digs.
Senior Ashley Montalvo (Blooming Grove, Texas) led all players with three service aces, while senior Megan McCarty (Kaufman, Texas) led defensively with 15 digs.
As a team, the Patriots had a .352 kill percentage. It was their second highest kill percentage of the season.
UT Tyler will now travel to Belton, Texas on Thursday for a key East Division match with Mary Hardin-Baylor. The Patriots are currently tied for fourth place with the Lady Cru in the ASC East. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
