Volleyball Falls at No. 15 Austin

SHERMAN, Texas – The University of Texas at Tyler volleyball team traveled to 15th-ranked Austin College on Tuesday night for the its final game before starting the conference portion of its schedule. Although, the Patriots kept it close, they fell in three straight sets, 25-17, 25-20, 25-21.

Freshman Danika Waldrep (Arlington, Texas) led UT Tyler in kills (8) and digs (21). Freshman Amanda Hanson (Spring, Texas) continued in her role as the team’s leading blocker by adding two solo blocks and two block assists.

The match marked season lows for the Patriots in kills, attack percentage and service aces. However, UT Tyler had seven total blocks on the evening, which is over its current season average.

The loss drops the Patriots to 6-3 on the year, while Austin improves to 7-2.

The Patriots now look to their American Southwest Conference opener against on Sept. 16 against Texas-Dallas at the Herrington Patriot Center. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
