Volleyball Falls at Home to ETBU

The University of Texas at Tyler volleyball team (6-5, 0-2 ASC) fell to American Southwest Conference rival East Texas Baptist (11-5, 3-0 ASC) in three straight sets, 25-14, 25-15, 25-23, on Friday night at the Herrington Patriot Center. The loss was the third in a row for the Patriots.

Despite losing the first two sets by 10 or more points, UT Tyler charged into the third set and led for most of the set. Down by six points at 22-16, the Tigers roared back to close out the set on a 9-1 run and take the match, 3-0.

Freshman Liz Bartelson (Burlington, Wisc.) led the Patriots on offense with six kills, while senior Megan McCarty (Kaufman, Texas) led on the defensive end with 10 digs.

The Patriots will play the third match of a four match home stand tomorrow when they host ASC foe Mississippi College at 1 p.m. at the Herrington Patriot Center.
