Dallas Too Much for Patriots Volleyball

The University of Texas at Tyler volleyball team dropped a non-conference match to the University of Dallas, 3-0, Saturday afternoon at the Herrington Patriot Center.

The Patriots (7-6) struggled defensively after a week without a game and Dallas (10-5) took advantage of UT Tyler’s sluggishness, rattling off 25-19, 25-23, and 34-32 victories.

Danika Waldrep led all Patriots with ten kills and Megan McCarty had 24 digs.  Christy Meredith provided a team-high 18 assists for UT Tyler.

For Dallas, Danielle Fuchs recorded 16 kills and Krysta Hamble had 17 assists.  Defensively, Kelli Fuentes had 12 digs for the Crusaders.

Saturday’s hoe match was UT Tyler’s last for almost a month; UT Tyler returns to the Herrington Patriot Center on Oct. 25 for an American Southwest Conference tilt against Mary Hardin-Baylor.

The Patriots are next on the court Oct. 3-4 at the ASC Crossover tournament at Texas Lutheran where UT Tyler faces Howard Payne, Concordia, and TLU.
