Volleyball Ends Skid With Win Over Dallas

ARLINGTON, Texas - The University of Texas at Tyler volleyball team put an end to its three-match losing streak by grinding out a 3-2 win over the University of Dallas on Tuesday night at Arlington Baptist.
The Crusaders won the first set of the match in extra points, 26-24, but the Patriots answered in the second set with their own 25-23 victory.
In the third set, Dallas (9-11) inched closer to claiming the match by picking up a 25-23 win.
However, the fourth and fifth sets the Patriots kicked into high gear and won final two games, 25-18 and 15-9, to clinch the 3-2 match win.
UT Tyler (7-11) placed three players in double digits for kills in the match with junior Kelsey Winn (Tyler, Texas) and sophomore Danika Waldrep (Arlington, Texas) each recording 14 kills and junior Holly Kieschnick (Gladewater, Texas) recording 13.
Defensively, four Patriots reached double digits in the digs category with Winn and freshman Hillary Taylor (Lewisville, Texas) leading the way with 13.
As a team, UT Tyler came up with a season-highs of nine solo blocks and 18 block assists in the match for 18.0 total blocks.
On Thursday, the Patriots will resume American Southwest Conference play at home by hosting LeTourneau at the Herrington Patriot Center at 7 p.m.
