Volleyball Falls Twice at Trinity

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The University of Texas at Tyler volleyball team lost its final two matches of the 2009 Trinity University Fall Classic, 3-0 to No. 17 Trinity and 3-1 to Texas Lutheran, on Saturday at the Sam’s Gymnasium in San Antonio.

In the first match, the Trinity defense only allowed 12 UT Tyler kills, as the Patriots (9-19) fell in straight sets, 25-17, 25-16 and 25-17.

Junior Holly Kieschnick (Gladewater, Texas) was the top offensive player in the match, as she recorded six kills.

Meanwhile, freshman Hillary Taylor (Lewisville, Texas) and junior Whitney Clements (Flint, Texas) led the Patriots on defense with six digs each.

In the second match, the Patriots sought revenge for last week’s 3-2 loss to Texas Lutheran in Alpine, but once again the Bulldogs came out on top, this time by a score of 3-1.

Following the conclusion of play on Saturday, Kieschnick was named to the 2009 Trinity University Fall Classic All-Tournament team.

On Tuesday, the Patriots will host American Southwest Conference rival East Texas Baptist at the Herrington Patriot Center for their 2009 home finale. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
