#14 Texas-Dallas Powers by Volleyball

The University of Texas at Tyler volleyball team was unable to find an answer for the Texas-Dallas offense on Friday night, as the 14th-ranked Comets swept the Patriots, 3-0, in American Southwest Conference action at the Herrington Patriot Center in Tyler.

The Patriots (5-7, 1-3) led for a good portion of the first game, but the Comets (9-0, 4-0) held their ground and battled back to win game one, 25-22.

In the second and third games, UT Tyler was unable to find and sustain a momentum and fell 25-17, 25-12.

Sophomore Danika Waldrep (Arlington, Texas) led the UT Tyler offense on the night with seven kills, while freshman Hillary Taylor (Lewisville, Texas) led the defense with 13 digs.

On Saturday, the Patriots will host a tri-match at the Herrington Patriot Center with ASC foe Mary Hardin-Baylor and regional rival University of Dallas.

UT Tyler will take on Mary Hardin-Baylor in an ASC contest at 1 p.m., followed by a match between Mary Hardin-Baylor and Dallas at 3 p.m. At 5 p.m., the Patriots will return to the court to close out the day with a non-conference matchup against Dallas.
