Shepard Nabs 3rd Straight ASC Honor for Women’s Basketball

RICHARDSON, Texas – For the third consecutive week, a member of The University of Texas at Tyler women’s basketball team has been named American Southwest Conference East Division Player of the Week.
Senior Marzetta Shepard (Atlanta, Texas) earned the award by averaging 23.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, 5.3 steals and one assist per game on the week, as the Patriots went 2-1.
Shepard scored a UT Tyler career-high 30 points in Thursday’s first-ever win over Hardin-Simmons. She then book-ended her week by recording a 17 point, 10 rebound double-double in the win against Jarvis Christian on Monday.
Shepard shot 50.9 percent from the floor, 37.5 percent from three-point range and 75 percent from the free throw line for the week.
The Patriots will return to action on Saturday when they take on Concordia (Tex.) in Austin at 1:00 p.m.
