Women’s Basketball Falls at UMHB

BELTON, Texas - The University of Texas at Tyler women’s basketball team lost its second consecutive game on Friday afternoon, dropping an 83-63 American Southwest Conference decision to Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton.

The Patriots (7-4, 4-2 ASC) led only three times in the game, all in the first half, but trailed by just eight points at intermission.

In the second half, the Lady Cru (5-4, 4-1 ASC) shot better than 50 percent from the floor en route to their 20-point victory.

Junior Becky Taylor (Bullard, Texas) led the Patriots with 18 points and 18 rebounds on the evening for her 10th double-double in 11 games.

Sophomore Lindsay Eaton (Austin, Texas) missed a double-double by just one rebound for the second consecutive game, scoring 16 points and pulling down nine boards in the contest.

Freshman Lindsay Hausmann (Austin, Texas) rounded out the three UT Tyler players in double-digits with 10 points.

Junior Kellie Thomas (New Braunfels, Texas) led five UMHB players in double figures with a game-high 19 points.

The Patriots will return to the Herrington Patriot Center on Thursday evening to take on the defending National Champions, Howard Payne, at 5:30 p.m.
