Women's Basketball Downs Sul Ross

The University of Texas at Tyler women’s basketball team rounded out cross-division play in the American Southwest Conference with a 72-46 win over Sul Ross State on Saturday at the Herrington Patriot Center.

Melissa Thomas scored a game-high 19 points while Becky Taylor and Lindsay Eaton added 14 each.

The teams traded baskets for the first five minutes before the Patriots broke away and took a 43-23 lead into halftime.

The Patriots led by as many as 36 in the second half and with the win, improve their record to 9-4 overall and 6-2 in conference play.

Casi Tribbett had nine points to lead the Lady Lobos (0-12, 0-9).

UT Tyler continues its six-game homestand on Thursday, hosting Louisiana College at 5:30 p.m. at the Herrington Patriot Center.
