Women’s Basketball Trio Come Up Big at ETBU

MARSHALL, Texas – Junior Becky Taylor and sophomores Lindsay Eaton and Marci Trogus of The University of Texas at Tyler women’s basketball team all recorded double-doubles during Thursday night’s 72-60 American Southwest Conference win over East Texas Baptist in Marshall.

The Patriots (11-7, 8-5) never trailed the Lady Tigers (5-13, 5-9) except for early in the first half and led by as many as 15 points in the contest.

UT Tyler out shot ETBU by almost six percent from the floor and enjoyed a 21 rebound advantage over the Lady Tigers.

Taylor (Bullard, Texas) led her team with 21 points and 16 rebounds, while Eaton (Austin, Texas) and Trogus (Houston, Texas) each scored 18 points and pulled down 13 boards.

Senior Marzetta Shepard (Atlanta, Texas) rounded out the four Patriots scoring in double-digits with 10 points.

ETBU junior Satara Harrell (Cedar Hill, Texas) led all scorers with 22 points and pulled down 12 rebounds for her own double-double.

The Patriots will return to ASC action on Saturday when they travel to Longview to take on LeTourneau at 1:00 p.m.
