Women’s Basketball Wins Again, Downs LeTourneau

LONGVIEW, TEXAS – The University of Texas at Tyler women’s basketball team picked up a 79-53 victory over LeTourneau on Saturday to round-out the first half of American Southwest Conference East Division play.

Marci Trogus led the Patriots with 20 points and Becky Taylor posted 18 points and 21 rebounds for her 17th double-double of the season.

Leading by as many as 22, 16 points off turnovers helped the Patriots take a 45-26 lead into the half and UT Tyler led by as many as 33 in the second period. 

UT Tyler held a 43-35 rebounding margin over the Lady Jackets.

The Patriots’ defense held LeTourneau to just 31-percent shooting from the field for the game.

UT Tyler begins its final homestand of the year by hosting East Texas Baptist on Thursday at the Herrington Patriot Center.
