Parrish Named Co-Player of the Week for Women's Hoops

Freshman guard Paige Parrish of The University of Texas at Tyler was named women’s basketball Co-East Division Player of the Week in the American Southwest Conference, the league office announced Monday.

The McKinney, Texas, native averaged 23 points over two conference road games, including dropping in 32 in the Patriots’ 79-75 victory against Hardin-Simmons. The point total was Parrish’s career high and the second highest in the ASC this season.

Parrish also averaged 4.5 rebounds, two assists and one steal. She went 13-for-14 at the free-throw line. Parrish is currently fourth in the league in scoring at 17.8 points per game.

LeTourneau freshman guard Alexis Popelar was the other East Division honoree.

UT Tyler hosts Jarvis Christian on Tuesday at the Herrington Patriot Center in a non-conference game beginning at 6 p.m.
