Women's Soccer Fourteen All-ASC Soccer Spots Go to Patriots The UT Tyler men’s and women’s soccer teams have placed a total of 14 players on the All-American Southwest Conference squads to cap off historic seasons, it was announced this week. Seven players from the ASC runner-up women’s soccer team were named to the All-ASC women’s team, including three first-team selections in Jorden Reed, Amanda Thomas and Kelly Buchanan. The Patriots advanced to the championship game of the ASC tournament in their first year eligible, falling to Hardin-Simmons, 2-0. Reed, a senior forward, scored a team-leading seven goals on the season. To that she added four assists to top the team in total points with 18. Women's Soccer to Play for ASC Title ABILENE - Brenda Salinas scored in the 44th minute and the UT Tyler Patriots outlasted UT Dallas to advance to the championship game of the American Southwest Conference women's soccer tournament at the Hardin-Simmons Soccer Complex. UT Tyler took the 1-0 just before halftime when Salinas found the back of the net on an assist by Taylor Estes. The goal was Salinas' first of the year. Women's Soccer Moves to Semifinals with 4-0 Victory ABILENE - The UT Tyler women’s soccer team scored a convincing, 4-0 victory over Mary Hardin-Baylor to advance to the semifinal round of the American Southwest Conference soccer tournament. Friday’s win means UT Tyler will face UT Dallas at 2 p.m. Saturday in Abilene. The Patriots are the No. 3 seed while UT Dallas holds the No. 2 seed. Women’s Soccer Ready for First ASC Appearance The University of Texas at Tyler’s women’s soccer team will play in its first-ever American Southwest Conference championship tournament this weekend in Abilene. The tournament, hosted by Hardin-Simmons, begins at 11 a.m. Friday with No. 4 Mississippi College taking on No. 5 Texas Lutheran. Hardin-Simmons, ranked sixth nationally, is favored to repeat as ASC champions as they enter the tournament on a 98-game ASC win streak. “We are very excited to be eligible for the playoffs and we have been working for this since I first arrived in Tyler,” said UT Tyler head coach Stefani Webb. “The University has done a tremendous job of providing our student-athletes with such an unbelievable opportunity and we are excited to be able to represent UT Tyler in the postseason." Women's Soccer Wins Finale, 4-0 The UT Tyler women’s soccer team will go into the American Southwest Conference tournament as the No. 3 seed after beating Concordia, 4-0, in Saturday’s regular season finale in Austin. The Patriots are set to face sixth seed Mary Hardin-Baylor Friday at 2 p.m. in Abilene.
