NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Seniors Adam McAlpine and Kelly Buchanan of The University of Texas at Tyler soccer teams were each named to their respective ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District teams by the College Sports Information Directors of America on Thursday.

The award recognizes those student-athletes who not only excel on the field, but in the classroom as well. Nominees must play in at least 50 percent of their team’s games and carry at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average. More>>

RICHARDSON, Texas – Senior Kelly Buchanan (Houston, Texas) of The University of Texas at Tyler Women’s Soccer team was named Defensive Player of the Week by the American Southwest Conference on Monday.

The Patriots (10-2-1, 7-2 ASC) took control of the game early and cruised past the Tigers (4-8, 4-4 ASC) for their sixth straight win.

Senior Kelly Buchanan (Houston, Texas) started the scoring for the Patriots when she received a pass from sophomore Taylor Estes (Henderson, Texas) and ripped the ball far post for her third goal of the season and the 1-0 lead. More>>>

Patriots Battle Trinity to 2-2 Tie in Women's Soccer
September 5, 2008

In a game full of firsts, The University of Texas at Tyler tied No. 21 Trinity (Tex.), 2-2, in the Patriots’ home opener Friday night in front of almost 400 fans at the Citizens 1st Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex.

The tie was the best result against the Tigers in UT Tyler history. The two goals for the Patriots were also the first goals against Trinity, having been shutout in previous matchups against the perennial power. More>>
