Reed, Fraser Earn ASC Nods for Women’s Soccer
October 9, 2007
UT Tyler Senior Jorden Reed and sophomore Sam Fraser were named the women’s soccer Players of the Week in the American Southwest Conference, the league announced today.
Reed, a forward from Keller, Texas (Keller HS), earned the conference’s offensive honor after contributing to three of the four goals scored by the Patriots last week. Reed assisted on the first and scored the second goal in a 2-1 win over Mary Hardin-Baylor on Thursday, then provided a key assist in Saturday’s 2-0 win against Howard Payne.
A goalkeeper from Lindale, Texas (Lindale HS), Fraser posted two ASC shutouts with a combined six saves against Mary Hardin-Baylor and Howard Payne to earn the defensive Player of the Week honors. Both games were decided by two goals or less. Fraser shared the honor with Texas Lutheran’s Katie Kistner.
With Reed and Fraser in the lead, UT Tyler picked up two key ASC wins last week and moved into third place in the conference race. UT Tyler is 7-3-2 overall and 5-1-2 in the ASC.
The Patriots will take their two-game winning streak on the road this weekend with games at Schreiner and Texas Lutheran.
