Women's Soccer Wins Thriller over MC
September 22, 2007

It took an extra 13 minutes, but the UT Tyler women's soccer team earned their second American Southwest Conference victory in as many games, winning a 2-1 overtime thriller over Mississippi College at the Citizens 1st Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex Saturday.

Kendall Kramer tapped in an assist from Amanda Thomas in the 104th minute to break a 1-1 stalemate and move UT Tyler to 2-0-2 in ASC play. The Patriots are 4-2-2 overall.

In a evenly-matched game that saw 17 total shots for UT Tyler and 16 for MC, overtime appeared imminent until 73:28 when Kellie Kirby scored an unassisted goal for the Lady Choctaws to give them 1-0 lead with just over 15 minutes to play.

Determined not to let the game slip away, Kelly Buchanan setup Lauren Pate for the Patriots' first goal at 80:40, and evened the score at 1-1 to force the extra time.

The Patriots got off two shots in the first overtime but both squads failed to score until Kramer's goal in the second OT.

UT Tyler keeper Sam Fraser made eight saves. Jorden Reed and Leah Solomon both had five shots to lead all Patriots.

UT Tyler plays at McMurry and Hardin-Simmons next weekend.
