Women’s Soccer Announces 2009 Recruiting Class

The University of Texas at Tyler is proud to announce the commitment of eight young women who have chosen to continue their education at UT Tyler, while also being members of the Patriot women’s soccer program.
This year’s recruiting class includes five freshman and three transfers. The eight new Patriots will join 18 players returning from last year’s American Southwest Conference tournament qualifying side.
- Lindsey Edwards is a midfielder from Katy HS in Katy, Texas. Edwards was a three-time All-District selection during her four year career. During her senior year, she was named to three different All-Tournament teams and received Academic All-District honors.
- Sydney Frazier is a midfielder from Coppell HS in Coppell, Texas. Frazier was captain of her 2009 5A State Championship team. She was also named Academic All-State and was invited to play in the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches Senior Showcase.
- Kelli Hill is midfielder/defender from Whitehouse HS in Whitehouse, Texas. Hill was a two-time All-District first team honoree for the Lady Wildcats and also received All-District second team, All-East Texas, All Region and All-State honors. Hill was also the recipient of the District Defensive MVP award.
In the classroom, Hill was a member of Who’s Who Among American High School Students, the National Institute of High School Scholars, the National Honor Roll and the National Honor Society. Hill was also an honors graduate from Whitehouse.
In addition to her activities on the field and in the classroom, Hill is currently enlisted in the United States Marine Corp Reserves as a Lance Corporal.
- May Beth Lobaugh is a defender who is transferring from Navarro College. Lobaugh prepped at A&M Consolidated HS in College Station, Texas. While at Navarro, Lobaugh helped guide the Lady Bulldogs to a Region XIV Championship, a Southeast District E Championship and an appearance in the NJCAA Division I National Tournament. She received All-Region XIV honors for her work at Navarro.
- Analiz Medina is a Tyler native who is transferring from Lon Morris College. Medina attended high school at John Tyler where she received All-District honors and was name as the John Tyler Female Athlete of the Year for the 2006-2007 season. At Lon Morris, Medina received All-Region XIV honors for her work with the Lady Bearcats during the 2008 season.
- Amanda Weaver is a defender from Lamar HS in Arlington, Texas. Weaver was a three-time All-District honoree and was in invited to the TASCO Senior Showcase her senior season. For her achievements in the classroom, Weaver received Academic All-State honors and was a member of the National Honor Society. She also graduated with honors from Lamar.
- Julie Williams of Garland, Texas is a transfer from Richland College. Williams is a graduate of Richland Collegiate HS. While at Richland College, Williams was named NJCAA Player of the Week and earned the Chancellor’s Award.
- Sophie Williams is a goalkeeper from Allen, Texas and is a graduate of Bishop Lynch HS. While at Bishop Lynch, Williams was a three-year starter and a TAPPS Honorable Mention honoree. In the classroom, Williams made the honor roll all four years of high school and maintained an academic scholarship for her final three years.
Williams is also very active in her community and has volunteered for Meals on Wheels and the Life Care Center of Plano, among others.
The nine new Patriots will make their Citizens 1st Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex debuts on September 4 when UT Tyler opens its regular season at home against Oklahoma Christian at 4 p.m.
