Women’s Soccer Extends Win Streak to Six

The University of Texas at Tyler women’s soccer team picked up its sixth consecutive victory on Monday night with a 3-0 shutout win over East Texas Baptist at the Citizens 1st Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex.
The Patriots started the scoring in the sixth minute when junior Ashley Crawford (Grand Prairie, Texas) fired one past the Tigers’ goalkeeper on a play that was set up by junior Lauren Daily (Coppell, Texas) and senior Summer Werner (Allen, Texas).
In the 22nd minute, UT Tyler increased its lead to two goals when junior Lauren Thomas (College Station, Texas) scored her seventh goal of the season off of a pass from junior Brenda Salinas (Dallas, Texas).
UT Tyler wrapped up the scoring just 44 seconds into the second half when Thomas set up Daily for a goal of her own.
Senior goalkeeper Sam Fraser (Lindale, Texas) earned her third solo shutout in four games by saving two shots on the night.
With the win, the Patriots improve to 10-3 overall and 8-1 in the American Southwest Conference, while the Tigers fall to 7-5 on the season and 6-2 in league play.
On Saturday, the Patriots will travel to Round Rock, Texas to take on Concordia in an American Southwest Conference matchup at 1 p.m.
