Women’s Soccer’s Fraser Nets ASC Defensive Award

RICHARDSON, Texas – Senior goalkeeper Sam Fraser of The University of Texas at Tyler women’s soccer team was named as the American Southwest Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week for games played from Oct. 12 to Oct. 19, the league announced on Tuesday.
The Lindale native spent 180 minutes and 57 seconds between the posts last week and helped her team record shutout wins over LeTourneau and East Texas Baptist.
Fraser made three saves over the two-game span and now has three solo shutouts on the year.
Senior goalkeeper Marlena Ashby of Texas Lutheran also notched two shutouts on the week and was named as Fraser’s co-honoree for her efforts.
The week’s offensive award went to sophomore Megan Ryan of Hardin-Simmons who had two goals and an assist while helping lead her team to two shutouts as a defender.
Fraser and the rest of the Patriots will begin their final road trip of the season on Saturday when they travel to Round Rock to meet conference foe Concordia (Tex.) at 1 p.m.
