Women’s Soccer Gets Shutout Win Over LSU-Shreveport
September 6, 2009

The University of Texas at Tyler women’s soccer team picked up its first win of the 2009 season by blanking LSU-Shreveport, 2-0, on Sunday evening at the Citizens 1st Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex.

The game stayed locked at zero for the first part of the opening stanza, until junior Kendall Kramer (Houston, Texas) broke the tie with a strike off of a pass from junior Analiz Medina (Tyler, Texas) in the 25th minute to put UT Tyler on top 1-0.

In the second half, the Patriots offense swarmed the Pilots, outshooting the visitors 19 to five in the period. UT Tyler closed the book on the game in the 82nd minute, when Medina fed a pass to junior Lauren Thomas (College Station, Texas) who fired the ball past the LSU-Shreveport goalkeeper for the insurance goal.

On the day, the Patriots took a total of 27 shots with 14 going goal, compared to just seven total shots and five shots on goal by the Pilots.

The win evens UT Tyler’s season record at 1-1, while LSU-Shreveport falls to 2-1-1 on the year.

The Patriots will return to the pitch on Friday, Sept. 11, in San Antonio, Texas, when they face regional rival Trinity (Tex.) in non-conference action at 7 p.m.
