Women’s Soccer Gets Shutout Win at McMurry

ABILENE, Texas - The University of Texas at Tyler women’s soccer team had little trouble with McMurry on Saturday as it cruised to a 6-0 American Southwest Conference win in Abilene.

The Patriots got things started early when senior Summer Werner (Allen, Texas) scored the eventual game-winner just 40 seconds into the contest.

UT Tyler went on to score two more goals in the first half and three in the second half, with each of the six goals on the day coming from a different Patriot.

Senior Alina Kilkenny-DeAvila (Tyler, Texas), juniors Kendall Kramer (Houston, Texas), Lauren Thomas (College Station, Texas) and Analiz Medina (Tyler, Texas) and sophomore Emily Bechdol (Cedar Hill, Texas) all added to the Patriots’ tally by scoring one goal each.

Senior goalkeeper Lauren Hufham (Arlington, Texas) saved the only shot on goal in match for UT Tyler and, along with senior Sam Fraser (Lindale, Texas) and junior Morgan Dux (Hurst, Texas), earned a combined shutout for her efforts.

With the win, UT Tyler improves to 5-3 overall and 3-1 in the ASC, while McMurry falls to 0-6-1 on the year and 0-3-1 in league play.

On Thursday, the Patriots will return home to the Citizens 1st Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex to continue ASC play against Howard Payne at 5:30 p.m.
