    Research Interests: My research deals with genetics using the Red Imported Fire Ant (Solenopsis invicta) as a model. I am currently searching for a Solenopsis invicta virus (SINV) or bacteria (Bacillus) that lives within the ant's hemolymph. I am looking for an obligate symbiont that can be used against the ant to destroy their colonies. I am also interested in Conservation Genetics of various mammal species and hope to continue my education to the PhD level working in this field.
