Dr. Jim Ferguson has been a university administrator for the past 27 years, serving in a variety of institutions. Dr. Ferguson has served as Vice President for Business Affairs at The University of Texas at Tyler since May 2002. Prior to assuming his current position, Dr. Ferguson served as Vice President for Administrative Services at Auburn University in Alabama from 1993-2002, as Vice President for Finance and Business at Stephens College in Missouri from 1988-1993 and in a variety of managerial and executive capacities within the Office of Business Affairs/Operations at Texas A&M University from 1978-1988. Prior to his involvement in higher education, Dr. Ferguson was an officer in the United States Army from 1972-1978, with assignments in Georgia, Kentucky, Texas and South Korea.
All of Dr. Ferguson’s formal education was received from Texas A&M University, where he earned BS, MBA and PhD degrees.
Dr. Ferguson’s wife, Jane, is a speech-language pathologist in private practice. They have two grown daughters: Carey, Service Coordinator for the Babies Can’t Wait program in Savannah, Georgia and Kate, Assistant Manager of Greystone Country Club in Birmingham, Alabama.
Dr. Ferguson's interests include family activities, church activities and golf.
