Gregg Lassen

Gregg Lassen became the Vice President for Business Affairs at the University of Texas at Tyler on March 1, 2006. Lassen came to UT-Tyler from the University of Southern Mississippi where he held the equivalent position for two and a half years. Prior to that, Lassen had worked at the University of Phoenix, starting as a faculty member in the Sperling School of Business. He became a department chair and was Associate Dean before moving to Southern Miss. Higher education is a second career for Gregg; he spent eighteen years in the energy industry, enjoying a wide variety of assignments including financial and commercial management, regulatory affairs, business development, negotiations, marketing, and auditing in a large corporate environment.

His education includes an undergraduate degree and an MBA from the University of Wisconsin in Madison and a law degree from the University of Houston. A strong advocate of lifelong education, Gregg is ABD in his pursuit of a Ph.D. in international affairs at the University of Southern Mississippi.

Gregg and his wife Jackie are happy to be back in Jackie’s home state and are raising their three wonderful daughters, Erica, Josie, and Kelsey, in a lake home environment surrounded by too many pets to list.

Office: As Vice President, Lassen is the chief financial officer with responsibilities for many non-academic departments, including the budget office, financial services, student business services, human resources, the physical plant, institutional compliance, environmental health and safety, university police, the Cowan Center, and contracted services including food and bookstore operations.
