Human Resources
Benefits Workshop and Open Enrollment
Mark your calendars for July 13 when the Office of Human Resources will hold our annual Benefits Workshop to discuss the upcoming changes to our UT Tyler health care and benefits plan. We will be holding a morning and afternoon session in Library 401 so please plan to attend and stay tuned for more details on the time for each of the sessions.
July is the month to go online and make changes to your health coverage. You will receive notification of your current coverage along with your personal identification number (PIN). You will also receive instructions via email or regular mail as to how to log on, review your coverage, and make the desired changes. If you do not wish to make any changes, your current selections will roll forward into next year. The only exception is the FLEX account for medical and child-care expenses. You must make that election each year.
We will be sending summaries of the anticipated changes to the health care coverage via email or regular mail. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please give us a call.

Compliance Corner
Enterprise Risk Management
Audit Services would like to thank everyone for their participation in creating a risk template for their area using the Enterprise Risk Management methodology. A compilation of the ERM footprints has been presented to the Institutional Audit Committee to be used in finalizing a Level One risk footprint for the entire University. Once this is completed, the Institutional Compliance Committee will receive the results, and work can begin to refine the monitoring plans for identified high risk areas. Thanks again to everyone who gave ERM their best efforts - we will all benefit from your hard work!
Sincerely,
The Office Of Audit Services
Records Management
Just a reminder, records management is everyone's responsibility. If you have old records that you think can be destroyed, make sure you check the records retention schedule schedule to make sure that the retention time has expired for those records. You can find the records retention schedule on the Business Affairs website: http://www.uttyler.edu/businessaffairs/
We are currently in the process of updating the records retention schedule. If you have any questions on record management, please contact the Compliance Office.

University Police
The University of Texas at Tyler Police Department recently conducted its first R.A.D. (Rape Aggression Defense) training program for students at the Palestine campus. Officer Heath Cariker and Guard Alice Tidwell, who became certified R.A.D. instructors in February, conducted the training. Future classes will be available here at the main campus as early as the Summer II session. Wal-Mart has already graciously donated $1000 to the program which will be used to purchase training equipment for future classes.
The Police Department has a new officer as of June 1, 2006, Brian Froiseth. After completion of his training, he will be working the night shift patrol. Brian is a member of the United States Naval Reserves and has over two years previous police officer experience.
