VISION STATEMENT

The vision of the Office of Career Services at The University of Texas at Tyler is to be recognized by the University community as the premier resource for providing state-of-the-art services, programs and events to meet the comprehensive career development needs of students and alumni.

MISSION STATEMENT

As a component of The University of Texas at Tyler, the primary objective of the Office of Career Services is to support the University’s mission to develop individual’s professional knowledge and skills to enhance economic productivity.   To this end, the Office of Career Services aspires to support students and alumni in the exploration, identification, pursuit, and integration of personal and professional career goals by providing quality information, programs and events reflecting attention to adaptability, individual’s needs and use of technology; and exceptional customer service in a professional, considerate and enthusiastic manner in order to create positive attitudes for success.

In order to facilitate our mission, the Office of Career Services at The University of Texas at Tyler strives to:

• Value each individual as unique and part of a diverse and global community.
• Employ the best tools – both human and technological – to maximize the accessibility and effectiveness of our services.
• Develop the departmental plans and structure appropriate to the growth, resources and increasing needs of the University.
• Prepare students with proficient job search skills that will enable them to effectively present themselves to prospective employers.
• Educate and empower students at all levels to develop, implement, and evaluate their career plans; and serve as leaders in their communities.
• Afford a richer experience for our students through active collaboration and partnership with alumni, campus constituencies, employers and the community.
• Offer opportunities for students to develop and cultivate employer relationships for experiential educational opportunities and career employment possibilities.
• Provide undergraduates, graduate students and alumni with helpful, customized service, individualized to meet the changing needs of students and the job market.

The Office of Career Services at The University of Texas at Tyler is a member of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) and adheres to the Principles for Professional Conduct.

By serving as advisor and catalyst, the Office of Career Services seeks to assist students with their job search. This process does not guarantee employment, for that decision must be made exclusively between the job seeker and the employer. The Office of Career Services serves as a place where students and alumni can prepare and implement the job campaign to successfully secure employment.
