OBJECTIVES
Major objectives of the criminal justice program are to offer students an opportunity to prepare for professional careers in criminal justice, to provide an opportunity for persons currently serving in the criminal justice system to continue their education, to provide courses of instruction that complement the education received by students in related disciplines, and to foster an understanding of the role and function of the criminal justice system.
BACHELOR

B.S. Degree in Criminal Justice requires the completion of 124 semester
credit hours as follows

A minimum grade-point average of 2.0 in upper-division courses in criminal justice, including a 2.0 average in a minimum of 12 upper-division hours taken in criminal justice at this university |

CRIJ 2300: Criminal Justice System Students must satisfactorily complete CRIJ 2300 unless they have completed the Texas Transfer Curriculum:
1) Introduction to Criminal Justice,
2) Crime in America or the Juvenile Justice System,
3) Fundamentals of Criminal Law, and
4) Courts and Criminal Procedures.

Please Note:
No grade below "C" in any upper-division Criminal Justice course
will be accepted for graduation credit.
No more
than 21 lower-division hours in criminal justice, law enforcement, or
police science may be applied toward baccalaureate degree requirements.
All courses
cross-listed between criminal justice and any other discipline must be
taken as criminal justice courses.
CRIMINAL
JUSTICE AS A MINOR
Criminal justice may be chosen as a minor to satisfy bachelor degree requirements
in other fields. This program consists of 18 semester hours in criminal
justice including CRIJ 2300 and at least 15 hours which must be advanced
and include CRIJ 3320 and CRIJ 3326.
