Requirements for the English Language Arts and Reading (8-12) teaching certificate include the professional education courses listed above, the content course requirements for the Bachelor of Arts degree in English, and the guided electives listed below. Guided Electives—Required for teacher certification.
A minimum grade point average of 2.0 in all specialization courses, including a 2.0 at UT Tyler is required. Prospective teachers must achieve a grade of "C" or better in all courses leading to certification. For further information regarding certification, see an advisor in the School of Education.
