Statement of Mission and Purpose

The primary mission of the College of Business and Technology is to support The University of Texas at Tyler by providing high quality instruction to students from primarily the East Texas region. This emphasis on teaching will enable students to have a quality educational experience and will contribute to the development of successful careers in business and related fields. The mission of the College of Business and Technology encompasses continuous improvement of the following:
A. Educating students by emphasizing ethical values, conceptual knowledge, analyze skills, technical, and managerial skills; and leadership abilities needed in both domestic and international organizations. Educational opportunities include courses delivered on campus, through distance learning including interactive television and web-based instructions, and on the UT Tyler Longview University Campus and Palestine campus.
B. Partnering with junior/community colleges in the area to meet the educational needs of transferring students.
C. Engaging in intellectual contributions through applied research, instructional development, and limited basic research.
D. Providing professional service to the University, the College of Business and Technology, the professions, and the community.
The College of Business and Technology is organized as two different departments whose faculty award the following degrees:
