Undergraduate General Business Course Descriptions

 

GENB 3301 Business Law and Social Responsibility Introduction to the legal environment of business, legal reasoning, and historical perspective. The influence on economic activity by regulatory agencies in their pursuit of public policy goals is stressed. An introduction to business and professional ethics is included.

GENB 3306 Business Law A study of: property law, insurance, wills, trusts, estates, bailments, secured transactions, government regulation, employer employee relations, corporation, bankruptcy, suretyship, and the accountants legal responsibility, with an emphasis on the uniform CPA exam.

GENB 4340 Business and Professional Ethics Study of business and professional ethical concepts, processes and problems related to organizational decision making.  Topics and issues include ethical reasoning, integrity, objectivity, independence, social responsibility and organizational relationships. 

GENB 4370 & 4371 Undergraduate Internship Program An 8 to 16 week program providing for a learning experience in an off-campus environment. Prerequisite: Consent of academic advisor and 3.0 minimum GPA.  

GENB 4380 Business Consulting  Allows the student to choose from two options.  (1)  Business Project:  Students are assigned projects for problem analysis and solution, with written and oral presentation.  (2) Internship:  Student works on-site for a company using academic theory.  Student will provide a journal and written report.  Prerequisite:  Senior standing and consent of academic advisor.
