Center for Consumer Cybersecurity
Letter from the Director
We are excited to be launching the Center for Consumer Cybersecurity. Our vision is a center that will be a valuable resource for the faculty and students of our university, individuals and businesses in our local community, and the nation. Our focus on consumer cybersecurity makes us unique among centers around the country, and we are committed to advancing the status of cybersecurity in consumer-focused industries such as retail, healthcare, financial services.
The center supports faculty and students as they work to solve complex problems related to consumer cybersecurity through academic research. One of our goals is to produce high-quality academic research to be published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at top conferences. This not only provides a venue for disseminating our important findings, but also contributes to the strong reputation of our faculty, students, and University.
In addition to supporting faculty and student research, the center is sponsoring a speaker series that will bring cybersecurity practitioners and scholars to UT Tyler. We plan to host four events a year in our speaker series, with presentations from an academic scholar and a practitioner each semester.
Finally, we are committed to helping businesses here in East Texas and beyond with cybersecurity education, training, and awareness events that are open to the public. If you are in our area, we hope you will join us for those events.
Of course, we cannot see our vision come to fruition without your participation and support. If you have ideas about how we can serve this community with our center, need assistance with your cybersecurity strategy, or would like to partner with us on our mission, please contact us.
Thank you for your interest. We look forward to hearing from you!
Dr. A.J. Burns
Director, Center for Consumer Cybersecurity
