Biography

Dr. Willis, an East Texas native, joined the faculty of The University of Texas at Tyler in the fall of 2009 and has taught Intermediate Accounting, Accounting Information Systems, and Auditing. She commenced her academic career at The University of Texas at San Antonio. Prior to entering academia, she worked as an auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Houston, Texas. She has worked in both public and industry accounting. Dr. Willis received the Outstanding Faculty Award for the College of Business and Technology from the Texas Alpha Xi Chapter of Alpha Chi in 2010 and 2011. She has published articles in various accounting journals such as Accounting, Organizations, & Society, Research in Accounting Regulation, Journal of Accounting and Finance and Issues in Accounting Education. She is a member of the American Accounting Association, National Association of Black Accountants, Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Dr. Willis served as the faculty advisor of the UT Tyler Mu Kappa Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) from 2010-2013 until she was selected by the BAP executive office to serve as Chapter Advocate for the Southwest Region. She also serves on the board of the East Texas Chapter of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants. She desires to impact the lives of future accountants by instilling in them the skills they will need to be successful, not only in accounting but also in life.

Teaching and Research Interests
Professor Willis' primary teaching interest is financial accounting and reporting with an emphasis in Intermediate Accounting. Her research focuses on accounting education, accounting choice and decision making, and financial accounting standards.
