College of Business and Technology
Message from the Dean

Welcome to the College of Business and Technology (CBT). Our College, established in August 2001, has been a key part of the University of Texas at Tyler for over 25 years. The faculty and staff here are committed to student achievement and success. The CBT prepares students to be graduates (and active alumni) who serve the needs of business, government, educational, and not-for-profit organizations not only in East Texas, but the United States and many foreign countries. As of January 1, 2008 the College will have two schools. The School of Business Administration prepares students at both the Bachelor's and Master's level for careers which require accounting, finance, management, or marketing competencies. These undergraduate and graduate degrees were reaffirmed for five years in November 2007.
The School of Human Resource Development and Technology prepares students at the Bachelor's and Master's level for career areas in industry such as human resource development, industrial technology, distribution, safety, technology, and training and development. The recently approved B.S. in Construction Management is drawing regional attention and graduated the first alumnis in December 2007. The School of HRDT received accreditation of its baccalaureate degress in November 2002 from the National Association of Industraital Technology.
We see students from both schools developing characteristics such as the ability to:
-
Apply course related knowledge to real-world problems and opportunities
-
Use important and relevant information for effective and efficient decision making
-
Utilize a strong network of fellow students, faculty, and business/community leaders to address common issues
-
Make decisions that are both efficient and effective
-
Establish and build career momentum
Alumni, community leaders, employees, and prospective students all ask challenging questions about our College. For answers, we invite you to take a closer look at the many facets of our College presented in the various links that follow.
We look forward to serving you and seeing you as part of our College.
