- MANA 3311 Organizational Behavior and Leadership
- An understanding of leadership and analysis of behavioral management concepts: i.e., team building. conflict resolution, change management, motivation, leadership, interpersonal communication, and organizational design. Course fee $15. Equipment fee $10.
- MANA 3315 Management and Organization
- An analysis of the structure and processes of organizations and their implications for managers. Emphasis placed on organizational cultures, power, politics, and the development of the learning and knowledge-based organization. Course fee $15. Equipment fee $10.
- MANA 3320 Human Resources Management
- Planning, organizing and administering the personnel department. Emphasis given to recruiting, testing, training, and development of employees. Prerequisite: MANA 3311. Course fee $15. Equipment fee $10.
- MANA 3330 Management Information Systems
- A survey of the tools and techniques for applying state-of-the-art decision models and software in computerized information systems supporting managerial decision making. Main topic area includes decision support system technology, artificial intelligence tools, expert systems and business applications. Prerequisite: COSC 1307 or equivalent. Course fee $15. - MANA 4305 Production and Operations Management
- Management of the production function in business firms with special attention given to production, transportation, inventory, quality and cost control. Prerequisite: COSC 1307 and MATH 1342. Course fee $15. Computer fee $25. Equipment fee $10.
- MANA 4315 Managerial Decision Making
- This course develops integrative decision-making skills in business. Topics include problem definition, generation of alternatives, data collection, quantitative analysis, qualitative analysis, and the presentation of results using written reports, tables, graphs, and presentations. It requires significant computer use and case analysis. Prerequisite: MATH 1342 and COSC 1307. Computer fee $15. Equipment fee $10.
- MANA 4325 Compensation Administration
- Job analysis and evaluation; development of a comprehensive compensation program including incentive systems, supplemental compensation, and methods of executive remuneration. Prerequisite: MANA 3311. Course fee $15. Equipment fee $10.
- MANA 4335 Industrial Relations
- Overview of labor law, rights of employers and unions in organizing and bargaining, grievance processing, arbitration, and collective bargaining strategy and tactics. Prerequisite: MANA 3311. Course fee $15. Equipment fee $10.
- MANA 4345 MIS: E-Business and E-Commerce
- Study of advanced applications of management information systems (MIS) in business. Topics include E-Business applications such as enterprise resource planning and E-commerce topics such as web design/development and web business models. - MANA 4350 Database Information Systems
- The basics of constructing, managing, and deploying relational database solutions in support of electronic-based commerce activities. Topics include the requirements of defining and using data in relational databases, and incorporating the collection, management, and use of data as an integral part of successful e-business endeavors. - MANA 4370 Special Topics In Management
- Studies in management to include such topics as organizational theory and structure, global challenges in management, and ethical issues confronting management. A maximum of six semester hours may be applied to a degree. May be repeated once for credit when content changes. Prerequisite: Consent of academic advisor. Course fee $15. Equipment fee $10.
- MANA 4385 Leadership and Management Development
- Application of leadership and organization behavior concepts with an emphasis on team building, change management, and other key skills. Utilize experiential learning; i.e., team building and management development exercises, case studies, and simulations. Prerequisite: MANA 3311 or consent of academic advisor. Course fee $15. - MANA 4395 Managerial Strategy and Policy
- Integration of accounting, economics, law, finance, management, and marketing in the solution of an organization's problems. The case method is used extensively. Prerequisite: Senior within one year of graduation. Course fee $40. Equipment fee $10.
- MANA 4199-4699 Independent Study
- Independent study in specific areas of management not covered by organized undergraduate courses. A maximum of six credit hours for independent study may be applied toward an undergraduate degree. Independent study courses are available only to degree seeking students. The student must request a faculty member to supervise the independent study, write a proposal and have it approved by the sponsoring faculty member and the department chair. The proposal and the final report become part of the student's permanent record. Prerequisite: Consent of academic advisor. Course fee $15. Equipment fee $10.
- MANA 5310 Organizational Management
- A study of the management process, behavioral and structural properties of organizations, and environmental influences surrounding organizations. May not be taken for graduate credit for candidates for the MBA degree. Course fee $25. Equipment fee $10.
- MANA 5320 Human and Organizational Behavior
- Investigation of organizational structures and intergroup relations. Concepts in social psychology and other behavioral sciences are used to appraise organizational practices. Emphasis will be given to techniques of motivation, leadership and communications. Students with 15 undergraduate semester hours or more of management may not receive MBA credit for this course. - MANA 5330 Introduction to Information Systems
- A survey of information systems concepts will be presented, including a historical perspective of information systems, the structure of the information systems function, an introduction to information systems technologies, application planning, system development, end user computing, decision support systems, and the management of information system resources. Current topics in artificial intelligence and electronic commerce will also be explored. Prerequisite: COSC 1307. Course fee $25. Computer fee $25. Equipment fee $10.
- MANA 5335 Industrial and Labor Relations
- Development of a conceptual model of the industrial relations system and environment including the legal and economic factors influencing union recognition, contract negotiations, and agreement administration. Emphasis on federal labor legislation, strategy and tactics of bargaining, grievance processing, and arbitration. Prerequisite: MANA 5320 or equivalent. Course fee pending.
- MANA 5350 Seminar In Human Resources Management
- Advanced study of selected topics in human resources management with special emphasis on issues of current importance in the field. Such issues as staffing, training, evaluating and compensating will be covered. Course fee $25. Computer fee $25. Equipment fee $10.
- MANA 5370 Special Topics in Management
- An exploration of current finance topics that are not covered in other courses. May be repeated once for credit when the topics vary. Prerequisite: Consent of graduate advisor. Course fee $25. Equipment fee $10.
- MANA 5390 Organizational Theory and Decision-making
- Study of decision-making techniques and the analysis of organizational structures. Analysis of managerial functions of planning, organizing, staffing and control. Students with 15 undergraduate semester hours or more of management may not receive MBA credit for this course. Course fee required.
- MANA 5395 Strategy and Policy Formulation
- Capstone course for The College of Business Administration covering all functional areas of the graduate business curriculum. Top management's view of the firm. Planning and implementation of policy, evaluation of strategy alternatives, utilization of appropriate controls, and the evaluation of the administrative process are emphasized. Prerequisite: May not be taken until the student has completed 27 hours of graduate work in business. Course fee $65. Computer fee $25. Equipment fee $10.
- MANA 5199-5699 Independent Study
- Independent study in specific areas of management not covered by organized graduate courses. A maximum of six credit hours of independent study may be applied to a graduate degree. Independent study courses are available only to degree seeking students. The student must request a faculty member to supervise the independent study, write a proposal and have it approved by the sponsoring faculty member and the College of Business Administration coordinator of graduate programs. The proposal and the final report become part of the student's permanent record. Course fee $20. Equipment fee $10.
